Is it non-functioning or am I doing it wrong?

Edit by Ope - It is working, and I figured that if we're going to have a thread titled "Minecraft Google Map," we may as well link the map in the first post :)

Did you click the link in the pinned info thread? The one right above this one?

I had, but I was expecting to see some of the functionality the previous version had some time ago so I assumed this one was not working properly.

Nevermind. :)

I believe it has more to do with an updated version being available. You might check Minecraft's Wiki on Mapping to see if there is a client based option in the meantime.

Would something like this map generator work on our minecraft world? Otherwise, would it be possible to get a copy of the save file? That way I could generate a map on www.minecraftworldmap.com, it just wouldn't be updated in real time.

I would love to have any map at all. It would just be really helpful to see a top down of the world.

It's basically what we had. It used the Google maps API, and was pretty resource heavy. I'll see what I can do.

I can image with jump commands active for so long the world might be huge and awkward making mapping difficult. I guess we'll see. Thanks for checking into it Stig. We can use the second option I posted, but it wouldn't have realtime mapping. :/

Map is updated. Will need to set it to auto-update twice a day. Not sure why people aren't showing up.

Remember, lag is caused by that plugin INF made in secret: it causes lag when lag is bitched about.

There is no realtime map generator. The best we can do is have it update once a night.

WHAT IS THIS SORCERY???? Is it easier to update player locations than it is to update state changes of blocks? I was just watching Donk3y's icon move on the map. Blew mah mind.

I imagine once teh whole map is rendered, which takes some resources, plotting an XYZ coordinate for a person and updating it is pretty easy.

Really neat shit, this makes it much more fun. Thanks!

I imagine someone could make it do a delta render, and only update differences. Instead it looks at our world file and renders it completely. Just be happy minecraft isn't crashing.

It actually does do that, it only re-renders the changed tiles, but even _that_ still takes a long ass time :(

So if it updates twice a day, what times does that occur?
